Sorrow en Otono by tiranaki Sorrow en Otono by tiranaki
Note: The title is Sorrow en Otoņo, but deviantart does not allow foreign characters in the title.

... I don't really know what to say. There is no story to this, it's just a painting, it's not of someone, or somethingor anything specific for that matter. Truth is that I was watching "Hero" quite a lot, and my favorite scene is the one where Broken Sword and Moon fight in the Golden Forest, so that certainly inspired the yellow/red tones; I was also practicing my Chinise Brush Painting skills (which are not that great, but oh, well) and ended up doing this watercolor instead.

Just want to point out, and no offense meant by this, that this is not Japanese, and this is not a geisha (obviously for some of you, but, hey, some people are ignorant), in any case it's Chinese, since that's what inspired it (and it's not a kimono either, it's a robe). It's just me taking elements of a culture I love and making it my own.

Medium: watercolor (tubes/pans/pencils) on watercolor paper.
The seal and characters are just my signature.

Yeli I love this painting. I'm adding it to my favorites. I know that it was really hard for you to do but I really think that the result came out great.

I love the use of watercolours here ^^ And her hair design is really great! <3

By the way, I didn't know you could write Chinese... And your seal, is it one out of stone? ^^ *wants a stone one and not a plastic one ^^;*

LOL! Thanks! Well, I can't really write Chinese, just my name, and not as well as it is in the picture since my handwriting is a bit scratchy. I made an illustrator file of my name and that's what you're actually seeing, it's been prettied up. The seal is of stone, a brownish/red stone. It has 5 fish interwined carved at the top, and the block itself has carvings of landscapes, one is a seascape, the other is a mountain/waterfall scene and so on. The ink bowl is ceramic and has a blue dragon on the top with characters (I'm assuming it's a description of the item, or a "Made in" sign) on the bottom of the bowl. It all came inside a green box with embroidered red flowers. I was told to go to my local Chinatown to get one, but I don't have any nearby (the nearest one is in Cuba, but we're not allowed to fly there directly) so I had to order mine from the internet. I'm glad I did though since I sign everything with it.

I'm actually trying to learn Mandarin, but it hasn't been easy. I can read a few characters, but I can't even say a whole sentence (I'm supposed to know "Hello, how are you? I am well." And "What is your name? My name is..." oh and "Thank you" which is too easy.

Meh... I wish I didn't HAVE to learn Mandarin >.< My parents want me to, of course, since we're Chinese and have to honour our heritage. I just wish it weren't so complicated XD

heh, yeah. I'm having trouble, but I really want to learn, I want to go to China in a few years and at least be able to ask where the toilet is without being made a fool off. My pronunciation is probably horrible, especially since the methods I'm using to learn where done for people that have English as their first language, and my first language is Spanish which is totally different. I don't like the english accent they use, since my spanish pronunciation sounds better, to me.
