Bear on Moon by tiranaki Bear on Moon by tiranaki
Re did old drawing in watercolors to use for my portfolio. Obviously, the original looks much better, nevermind that scanner butchers up the colors, but eh well, it's in the portfolio and the people that need to see it in it's true colors, will, so that's what matters.

Nothing great, it's been.... a year, or more, since I last used watercolors. meh.

That is just gorgeously cute. I still think it's one of your better pieces regardless of age :)

Were the lighter splotches done with spray paint or something? That part doesn't look like watercolor...and don't forget to put the rule of thirds or the golden ratio in consideration :)

Rule of thirds is the same as the golden ratio, but rule of thirds is easier to imagine :D You basically invision an invisible tic tac toe board and place the image on a corner where the lines intersect. It's considered to be the area that's most pleasing to the eye. It doesn't have to be followed all the time, but most of the time, it is generally better to avoid centering an illustration piece :)

and yes, children thins might land you a job in a child oriented thing. I have a friend who has alot of "childish" designs in her portfolio, and she got an internship with Child Magazine

The bear! The bear! The cuteness! Yeli I don't know why you claim you can't paint or use watercolors. I really like that background and I have no freaking clue as to how its done. Most of my watercolors don't have backgrounds, some of them have splotchy color messes... ^^;

lol, I know :XD: it is, isn't it?

It's good portfolio material, methinks, cause it shows I can do cutesy stuff, for kids stories and the like.

I think ^^;
